ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville looks to continue its recent momentum as the Bulldogs welcome Winthrop to Greenwood Field for a three-game Big South Conference series. Asheville has won four of its last five games, including a midweek victory at Western Carolina and a series win at conference foe Charleston Southern, while Winthrop has won three of its last five following a five-game losing streak.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend 4-8 in Big South play and sit ninth in the standings, while Winthrop is sixth in the standings and 6-6 in league action. The top eight teams in the regular season standings advance to the Big South Tournament, which begins May 24.

Guy Streaking: Pete Guy takes a 23 game on-base streak into the weekend, the second-longest in the Scott Friedhom-era behind former Bulldog Hunter Bryant's 34 game on-base streak last season. Guy passed former shortstop Tommy Houmard's mark over the weekend. Houmard tallied two separate 21 game on-base streaks last season.
Guy's Eyes: Guy leads the country in total base on balls (46) entering the weekend and sits second in the country in base on balls per game average (1.21 per), just behind the national leader (Zack Collins, Miami (FL) – 1.29 per). He sits fifth in the country in total times hit by pitch (14).
Tietjen on at the Plate: Joe Tietjen leads the Bulldogs and the Big South Conference with his 45 RBI, a mark that is the 19th-most in the country. Tietjen's 1.18 RBIs per game average ranks 37th in the country and also leads the conference.
Eagle Eye, Bulls Eye: As a team, the Bulldogs have drawn 209 walks, leading the Big South in the category and ranking fifth nationally. Asheville also has a knack for getting hit, with its 50 total hit batters this season ranked 24th nationally.
