ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville looks to build off of Wednesday night's 14 inning, walkoff win when the Bulldogs hit the road for a three-game weekend series at Charleston Southern. Both teams have won three of their last five games, while Asheville is 5-5 over the last 10 games and CSU is just 3-7. The teams enter the weekend with identical 2-7 Big South Conference records.

 

NOTABLES

The Right Guy: Pete Guy is among the national leaders in several offensive statistics to date this season. Guy leads the country in total base on balls (41) and sits third in the country in base on balls per game average (1.21 per), just behind the national leader (Zack Collins, Miami (FL) – 1.26 per). He sits 11th in the country in total times hit by pitch (12), three back of the national leaders. Guy has reached base in 19 straight games dating back to the Bulldogs' series with Iona in mid-March.

 

Tietjen on at the Plate: Joe Tietjen leads the Bulldogs and the Big South Conference with his 43 RBI, a mark that is the 14th-most in the country (two leaders tied with 50 RBI). Tietjen's 1.26 RBIs per game average ranks 22nd in the country and also leads the conference.

 

Eagle Eye, Bulls Eye: As a team, the Bulldogs have drawn 187 walks, leading the Big South in the category and ranking fifth nationally. Asheville also has a knack for getting hit, with its 44 total hit batters this season ranked 27th nationally.

 

Looking at Charleston Southern: As a team, Charleston Southern has three players batting over .300 at the plate, while only one player has over 20 RBI entering the weekend. CSU and Asheville share Liberty as a common BSC opponent, with Charleston Southern going 1-2 and the Bulldogs going 0-3 against thr Flames, with both series played on the road.
