ASHEVILLE – The UNC Asheville Women's Basketball team hosts High Point University for their regular season finale inside the Justice Center on Saturday, March 5 at 2:00 p.m. for a throwback game and 80's night.

NOTABLES

Firsts on the Line: The Bulldogs enter Saturday's match-up with first place in the regular season on the line. Asheville is currently tied with Liberty University for first place, each team boasting records of 15-4 in Big South Conference play. The Bulldogs have never won a regular season title, with the program's highest finish of second place coming in the 2003-04 season.

Head-to-Head:  The last time these two teams met, Asheville delivered an 82-81 victory over the Panthers in the final seconds of play. High Point tied the game up at 81 with a three-point play from Kat Harris with 13 second remaining in the game. On the final possession, Khaila Webb was fouled with five seconds remaining, and knocked down her first free throw to give Asheville the one point edge. Webb missed her second free throw, but Asheville collected the rebound as the clock expired.

Double-Time: In Tuesday's victory over Charleston Southern, Bree Fitzgerald tallied her second double-double of the season with a team-high 18 points and 15 rebounds. Fitzgerald's first double-double came against Furman University on December 18 when she scored 10 points and collected 10 rebounds.

Bulldogs Building Up: The Bulldogs are coming off of a 91-68 win over Charleston Southern on Tuesday night. This gives Asheville their twenty-second season win, matching the combined number of wins from Coach Mock and her staff in the past three years.

QUOTABLES FROM HEAD COACH BRENDA MOCK KIRKPATRICK

On High Point- “Tomorrow will be another opportunity for us to test our consistency. High Point has a formidable offense and has multiple threats. Coach Hendrix has done a tremendous job in developing the youth on the team quickly and they play well together. Our first match-up was one of the most exciting basketball games of the season. Very well played on the offensive end for both teams.

On a First Place Finish- “Our goal is to continue to apply heart and effort on every possession and focus on that rather than focus on the outcome. Obviously the outcome of this game has ramifications within the conference standings. It is no surprise that within this league that so much will be determined on the last day of play.

On the Justice Center- “We are looking forward to playing in the Justice Center for the first time. It should be an exciting environment and a sentimental experience for longtime Bulldog fans who have been coming for years to watch UNC Asheville basketball. Many exciting games have been played there over the years. There is a lot of tradition and character in that building.”
