ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville looks to open Big South Conference play in a positive direction when the Bulldogs welcome High Point to campus for a three game weekend series that will serve as the league opener for both sides.

 

All three games of the series are tentatively scheduled to be streamed on Big South Network, weather permitting.

 

Asheville enters the weekend on a six-game losing streak after falling to Tennessee on Tuesday night in a game played at McCormick Field in downtown Asheville. High Point is coming off a Tuesday loss at Wake Forest, but had won four straight before the loss. High Point is 0-2 away from home this season.

 

NOTABLES

Big Hits: Through 12 games, the Bulldogs have seen 46 hits go for extra bases, including 31 doubles and 13 home runs. Pete Guy leads the Bulldogs with six home runs, while Lucas Owens and Joe Tietjen each have seven doubles as nine players in total have tallied at least one extra-base hit. 

 

The Right Guy: Pete Guy sits in the middle of several national individual hitting categories, including being 14th in the country with his six home runs, three back of the national leaders. Guy is also No. 8 nationally with 19 drawn walks, four behind the national leader. His

 

Eagle Eye, Bulls Eye: As a team, the Bulldogs have drawn 93 walks entering Big South Conference play, leading the league in the category and ranking 15th nationally. Mercer leads the country with 113 drawn walks as a team. Asheville also has a knack for getting hit, with its 27 total hit batters this season also ranked 15th nationally, 10 back of national leader Florida A&M.
