Asheville to Host Annual Pink Game Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C.- The UNC Asheville Women's basketball team will host its annual Pink game to raise money for breast cancer awareness on Saturday, February 6 against Coastal Carolina. All of the proceeds raised on Saturday will be split between two foundations. The first is Ladies Night Out, a program of Mission Hospital and Buncombe County Health & Human services.
“Ladies Night Out is a program to ensure that every women has access to a mammogram. During Ladies Night Out women are offered free physicals, mammograms, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, and health education. Transportation and child care are provided if needed.” -Ladies Night Out program
The other half of the money will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has partnered with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association to create the Play4Kay organization.
“Play4Kay is a charitable organization committed to finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research and related projects assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.” –Play4Kay organization.
Mission Hospital will have information booths set up around the concourse of the Wilma M. Sherrill Center during the game, along with Belk, Carmen! Carmen!, and Clinique who will be in attendance selling some of their products.
Belk will be providing silent and live auction items such as spa packages, fragrance baskets and clothing to be bid on during the game to benefit the charities.
At halftime, the will be a ticketed wine and cheese reception in the Mission Health Mountain View Conference Room located on the concourse. A $20 ticket will get fans into the game and the halftime reception. Breast cancer survivors and those fighting breast cancer are invited to attend the reception free of charge. Immediately following the game, Belk will present a fashion show for the third straight year. The runway fashion show will feature Belk's spring lines and your Bulldog student-athletes.
