Bulldog Baseball Makes Midweek Trip to ETSU on Tuesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville will hit the road Tuesday afternoon and make the short trek north to take on East Tennessee State in the Bulldogs' first midweek contest of the season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. in Johnson City.
Asheville is coming off of a 1-2 weekend in Spartanburg, S.C., while ETSU is 2-4 on the season but also was 1-2 last weekend in a home series against Northern Kentucky. ETSU has played five of its six games this season at home to date, while Asheville has had only one true road game – Sunday against Wofford as part of three-games in South Carolina.
NOTABLES
This Guy has Power: Pete Guy finished his weekend in South Carolina 5-for-10 at the plate with four home runs, including a pair of back-to-back two homer games on Friday and Saturday. The senior tallied seven RBI and scored eight runs, drawing five walks in the three games.
Leading the Way: Asheville has two players hitting over .400 after the opening two weeks – Joe Tietjen (.400) and Lucas Owens (.450). Owens leads Asheville with four doubles, while Guy has 22 total bases to lead the team in that category, aided by his team-high five home runs through six games played.
Crossing the Plate: Through six games, the Bulldogs are averaging scoring 8.5 runs per contest, including their 19-run output against Rider on Saturday. Asheville has scored at least five runs in each game this season to date and has scored 11 total runs in the second inning of games so far.
