02.25.2016 | Women's Basketball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team jumped a spot to No. 21 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Poll released Wednesday afternoon.

Asheville received 139 total points and remains the only Big South Conference school to be in the poll's listings or receive votes.

Head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick's squad has 21 victories this season, matching the most season wins for Asheville in program history since entering the Division I era, set by the 2006-07 campaign.

The Bulldogs fell at Gardner-Webb Tuesday night but still hold a one-game lead at the top of the Big South Conference standings as the schedule creeps towards the end line.

Asheville is home for the final three games of the regular season, beginning Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. against Coastal Carolina on Homecoming. The Bulldogs also host the 2016 Big South Women's Championship inside Kimmel Arena Mach 10-13. Tickets to the Women's Championship can be purchased at uncabulldogs.com/tickets or by calling the UNC Asheville ticket office at (828) 258-7900.

The CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Poll's voting panel is made up of 30 mid-major coaches and is now in its 6th season of existence.
