Bulldogs Jump to No. 22 in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll

02.17.2016 | Women's Basketball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Fresh off its program-tying 21st victory of the season, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team jumped three spots to No. 22 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Poll released late Tuesday night.

Asheville received 73 total points and hopped over both Drake (No. 23) and Central Arkansas (No. 24), who each moved down a spot. The Bulldogs remain the only Big South Conference school to be in the poll's listings or receive votes.

Head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick's squad downed Radford 58-48 Tuesday night inside Kimmel Arena to move to 14-2 in Big South Conference play in addition to the 21 overall wins. The win total matches the most season wins for Asheville in program history since entering the Division I era, set by the 2006-07 campaign.

The 14 Big South wins are now most conference victories in program history, replacing their previous season-best of nine conference wins in a single season (2003-04 and 2006-07 campaigns).

The Bulldogs are off this weekend before traveling to Gardner-Webb next Tuesday, Feb. 23. Asheville then returns home for the final three games of the regular season and also hosts the 2016 Big South Women's Championship inside Kimmel Arena Mach 10-13. Tickets to the Women's Championship can be purchased at uncabulldogs.com/tickets or by calling the UNC Asheville ticket office at (828) 258-7900.

The CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Poll's voting panel is made up of 30 mid-major coaches and is now in its 6th season of existence.
