NOTABLES
Head-to-Head- The Highlanders lead the Bulldogs in the overall series 48-20. Asheville delivered the latest victory (54-46) in the teams' first meeting of the season on January 30 at Radford. Asheville trailed for the majority of the game following an initial 4-2 lead over the Highlanders. The Bulldogs tied the game up at 42 with 6:03 left to play in the fourth quarter after a layup from Tiffany Wilson. The Bulldogs took at 43-42 lead off of a free throw from Chatori Major. The Bulldogs would build on their lead for the remainder of the game to produce an eight-point win.
History in the making- This has been a record breaking season for the Bulldogs in many ways. Asheville's Saturday win over Liberty gave them their thirteenth conference win. This is the most conference victories in program history, replacing their previous season-best of nine conference wins by the 2003-04 and 2006-07 campaigns. A win for the Bulldogs on Tuesday would be their 21st win this season, matching a program-high for most season wins in the Division 1 era by the 2006-07 campaign.
Bulldogs behind the Arc- Asheville has made a name for themselves from behind the three-point line this season. Junior Tianna Knuckles currently leads the Big South Conference in three-point shooting percentage at 37.8 percent. Her teammate Chatori Major also makes the BSC top three in three-point percentage, tying Longwood's Deborah Headen with 36.6 percent efficiency.
Streaking Again-Including their two wins this week, the Bulldogs have strung together seven victories for their second significant win-streak of the season. Asheville began the 2015-16 season matching a program-best start of 9-1. Following a season-opening loss to East Tennessee State University, Asheville delivered nine straight wins. The Bulldogs' historic run was ended by the Clemson Tigers on December 21st.
QUOTEABLES FROM HEAD COACH BRENDA KIRKPATRICK
On Radford: “Radford is another team that will present challenges for us with their size, defense and rebounding ability. We needed a run at the end of the game to come from behind at their place. This will be another possession game and one that we are excited about.”
UP NEXT
-Following Tuesday's game, the Bulldogs will take a short break, returning to the floor next Tuesday, February 23 at Gardner-Webb for a 7:00p.m. contest with the Runnin' Bulldogs.
