Chatori Major Named Big South Conference Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –UNC Asheville guard Chatori Major has been named the Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced this morning. Major was also named College Sports Madness' Big South Player of the Week earlier this season in January.

 

 

-In Asheville's two conference victories this week, Major averaged 16.5 points per game and shot 41.7 percent (10-for-24) from the field.  In the Bulldogs' Tuesday win over Presbyterian College Major tallied 20 points on 35 percent shooting, she also contributed four rebounds and two blocked shots in 37 minutes of play. In Saturday's win over Radford, Major matched a game-high 13 points, and contributed five rebounds and one steal. 

 

 

The junior is even with Tianna Knuckles as the team's overall leading scorers each averaging 13.4 points per game. Major also leads the team in made field goals at 67, averaging 6.1 made baskets per game.

 

 

Major and the Bulldogs are 16-4 on the season and are 9-2 in Big South Conference play. Asheville looks to stay atop the conference standings tonight when they take on Winthrop on the road before they host Coastal Carolina on Saturday afternoon.
