NEW YORK STATE OF MIND: UNC Asheville closes out 2016 in the Bronx in the 10th Annual Fordham Holiday Classic on Thursday, Dec. 29, and Friday, Dec. 30. The Bulldogs will commence things in the tournament by facing off against Harvard at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Rose Hill Gym.Â
ELITE FIELD: The 10th Annual Fordham Holiday Classic features some of the best mid-major women's basketball programs in the country in addition to preseason Big South Conference favorite UNC Asheville. Harvard at 9-1 is presently ninth in the latest ESPNW Mid-Major rankings, while host Fordham is 9-4. Buffalo at 9-0 is currently ranked third in the latest CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top-25.Â
HOME SWEET HOME: Kimmel Arena is one of the toughest places to play in all of women's college basketball. This year the Bulldogs are already 4-0 at home with wins over Western Carolina, Tennessee Tech, Warren Wilson and Wofford. The strong 4-0 start at home this season follows up a performance last year where the Bulldogs were 16-2 at Kimmel Arena.
AT THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN: UNC Asheville is now 5-0 in games in which they score 70 or more points after the win over USC Upstate.
SERIES: UNC Asheville and Harvard will be meeting for the first time in their matchup in the 10th Annual Fordham Holiday Classic.
