The meet at the FGCU Aquatics Complex is slated to get underway at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 18.

BULLDOG BITES

LAST TIME OUT: The UNC Asheville swimming team wrapped up the Wingate Fall Frenzy on Sunday, Nov. 20, in third place in the competition.

RECORD-BREAKING: Over the course of the Wingate Fall Frenzy numerous program and freshmen records fell, including Catherine Allen (100 and 200 fly) and Skylar Rogan (500 free) particularly shining. In total at the Wingate Fall Frenzy the Bulldogs set 14 lifetime bests. Skylar Rogan became the first Bulldog to ever break 5:00 in the 500 freestyle. En route to setting her lifetime best and earning the fourth place point, Rogan dropped almost :03 from her morning swim on Friday, Nov. 18, to set the new school and freshman record in 4:58.75. Allen broke the record in the 100 butterfly in the evening session on Saturday, Nov. 19. Allen earned a personal record by .43 en route to breaking both the school and freshman records. In the 200 butterfly in the preliminaries, Madison Rogan raced to a personal best time of 2:05.66 to at the time set the school and freshman record. Allen though would finish just ahead of Madison Rogan (2:06.37) with a time 2:05.39 in the finals to set the new school record just hours later.

A PLACE SHE KNOWS WELL: Named the 2015-16 CCSA Co-Coach of the Year, UNC Asheville swimming head coach Elizabeth Lykins has been at the helm of Bulldog swimming since its inception in 2012. Prior to taking the reins at Asheville, Lykins was an assistant coach at Florida Gulf Coast University. During her tenure with the Eagles, the team achieved four-straight CCSA conference championships as well as a runner-up finish in 2006.

BEEN A WHILE/UP NEXT: UNC Asheville swimming has been away from competition for just under a month heading into the CCSA matchup with Florida Gulf Coast. The Bulldogs will once again have almost a month off from competition before welcoming in Liberty to the Justice Center Pool for a CCSA dual meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14.

QUOTABLES

"The team is looking forward to racing again. Throughout the last four weeks, we've had Thanksgiving, exams and started winter training. We are excited to compete against a nationally-ranked, conference opponent as well as enjoy a nice change of scenery as we spend seven days training and racing in southwest Florida." – Elizabeth Lykins
