GREENVILLE, S.C. - In the midst of a four-game winning streak, UNC Asheville next hits the road to take on Furman at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Timmons Arena. 
 

BULLDOG BITES

SERIES: It has been a tightly contested series between UNC Asheville and Furman over the years with the series tied at 14-14 entering this year's matchup. Last year, UNC Asheville utilized a balanced scoring attack and a dominating performance on the boards to pick up an 84-71 win over the Paladins on "Education Day" at Kimmel Arena on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015. The Bulldogs were led by Tianna Knuckles' 14 points in the contest. 

LAST TIME OUT: Ironically, the Bulldogs face off against last year's "Education Day" opponent in Furman coming off a record-breaking performance in this year's "Education Day" game at Kimmel Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The Bulldogs easily dispatched of Warren Wilson this past Tuesday in a 113-51 win to secure their largest point total in their NCAA Division I era in front of the largest home crowd in program history with 2,257 fans in attendance to see the huge UNC Asheville win. 

KEY STAT: After the dominating performance over Warren Wilson, UNC Asheville is now 9-0 against non NCAA Division I opponents under Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick. 

LEADING THE WAY: The Nov. 21 Big South Conference Player of the Week, UNC Asheville senior guard Tianna Knuckles is averaging a team-best 13.2 points per game. The Nov. 14 Big South Conference Player of the Week, UNC Asheville center KJ Weaver is leading the team in rebounds at 6.6 rebounds per game to go along with her 8.8 points per outing. 

HOME SWEET HOME: Kimmel Arena is one of the toughest places to play in all of women's college basketball. This year the Bulldogs are already 3-0 at home with wins over Western Carolina, Tennessee Tech and Warren Wilson. The strong 3-0 start at home this season follows up a performance last year where the Bulldogs were 16-2 at Kimmel Arena. 

SCOUTING FURMAN: After losing its first four games of the year, Furman welcomes UNC Asheville having won three straight with wins over Mars Hill, Newberry and USC Upstate. All three of the wins came at Timmons Arena. Freshman guard Le'Jzae Davidson (12.7 points per game) and senior guard Whitney Bunn (12.6 points per game) lead the way for the Paladins. Bunn also has 43 assists on the year to lead the Paladins in the area. 

UP NEXT: UNC Asheville women's basketball will next welcome Wofford to Kimmel Arena for a 4:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 10. The game is part of a doubleheader on the day with the UNC Asheville men's basketball team facing off against Warren Wilson that same evening at 7 p.m.
