CHARLOTTE, N.C.- UNC Asheville men's tennis player Henry Patten strung together five singles wins  to take a A2 singles title at the 49er Fall Invitational over the weekend. The Bulldogs competed in the three day tournament held on the campus of UNC Charlotte as a part of their fall playing schedule.

Patten's singles victory in the A flight came from five straight singles wins over players from Georgia State University, UNC Greensboro and Duke University. He won his final match over Nick Stachowiak of Duke University 7-5, 4-5, 6-2.

"This is obviously a fantastic win for Henry and for our program. We have all known for a while what he might be capable of, but today I was very pleased with the mental toughness he demonstrated at some big moments to pull out a great win," said head Coach Thomas Hand.

The Bulldogs competed in both singles and doubles competition over the weekend. In doubles action, Bulldogs James Massie and Andrew Sinai went 2-0 on day three in B1 doubles play, while teammates senior Josh Swindler and Patten picked up a win over Georgia State's pair in the A2 bracket before falling to Quiroz and Dias from Winthrop.

Also in singles action, senior Reid Dillion picked up a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Appalachian State's Alex Pavkovich in his first round of single play in the C1 bracket.

Asheville will close out their fall schedule in Winston-Salem, N.C. at the Wake Forest Invitational on November 11-13.
