CHARLOTTE, N.C. –UNC Asheville guard Chatori Major has been named the Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon. Major was also named College Sports Madness' Big South Player of the Week earlier in the day on Monday.
The junior is second in nearly every Bulldog offensive category, including points per game (11.8 points per contest), three-point shooting percentage (44.4 percent) and three-point baskets made (16 total).
Major contributed career nights in Asheville's two Big South Conference wins last week. On Tuesday she delivered a career-high 28 points on 56 percent shooting with 4-of-6 shots good from behind the arc in a home win over Winthrop before tallying a team-high 17 points in Asheville's road victory at Campbell on Saturday afternoon.
Major and the Bulldogs are 11-2 on the season and are a perfect 4-0 in Big South Conference play. Asheville looks to stay atop the conference standings tonight when they take on Liberty on the road before they travel to Charleston Southern Saturday afternoon.
