CHARLESTON, S.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team saw its six-match win streak snapped on Saturday morning with a 3-0 loss to Wright State. Each of the three sets were tight, finishing with a two-point differential (28-26, 5-23, 25-23). The Bulldogs square off against North Florida this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. to finish their weekend.

 

THE TURNING POINT

Wright State was able to close out each set with the final two points in each. The first set was tied at 26-all before a pair of Wright State kills, and sets two and three were both tied at 23-all before back-to-back kills pushed the sets in favor of Wright State as well.

 

NOTABLES

- Chrissy Lakatos (11 kills) was the only Bulldog to record double-digit kills, while three Wright State players each recorded double-digit kills.

 

- Bryn Pfeiffer notched 21 digs in the loss, while Katie Davis added 10 digs.

 

-A pair of Bulldogs – Amanda Powers (17) and Davis (3) – finished with double-digit assists.

 

-Three of Asheville's four losses this season have now come in three sets. The Bulldogs have only won three of 11 total third sets played to this point in the season.

 

-Asheville is now 0-2 all-time against Wright State, with both losses coming in early season tournament play.

UP NEXT

-Asheville now prepares to wrap up tournament action against North Florida this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Bulldogs return home to the Justice Center and open Big South Conference play next Friday night with a 7:00 p.m. match against Gardner-Webb.
