Baseball Alumni Return for Reunion Weekend
09.15.2015 | Baseball
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team welcomed back 42 alumni last weekend for golf, food and batting practice at Greenwood Field.
“We want to thank all of our alumni that came out last weekend. It was clearly the largest baseball alumni event in our programs history and we want to continue to grow it each year,” Bulldog head coach Scott Friedholm stated.
“It shows our current players that they have support and that people care about the program. I would like to give a special thank you to Justin Wilkins and Betsy Blose for all their hard work. We look forward to hosting this event on an annual basis.”
The weekend began Friday afternoon when the former Bulldogs teed off at the Grove Park Inn for a round of golf and continued later that night when the group gathered at Twisted Laurel in downtown Asheville for a night of food and fun.
Saturday morning the group relived their younger days and stepped into the batting cage at Greenwood Field, taking batting practice and running down fly balls in the outfield. Some didn't have to remember too far back with the youngest alum, Hunter Bryant, recently graduating this spring, while others like the oldest alum of the weekend, Keith Diyeso from the class of 1994, took a longer trip down memory lane.
