ASHEVILLE, N.C. – A month after earning an All-Star selection at the Double-A level, UNC Asheville baseball alum Ryan Dull has been called up to Triple-A and has continued his dominance out of the bullpen.
The right-hander was promoted from Double-A Midland (TX) to the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A's, back on July 28. In his Triple-A debut, Dull showed everyone why he was worthy of the promotion, striking out five of the six batters he faced in his two innings of work.
In three Triple-A appearances, Dull has tossed 5 2/3 innings of work, allowing just one run and four hits with a 1.59 ERA and nine strikeouts for the Sounds out of the bullpen.
Overall between Midland and Nashville, Dull has a 0.71 ERA in 2015 with 38 total appearances and 12 saves in 50 2/3 innings of work. The righty has a 3-1 record this season, all coming in Midland, and 61 total strikeouts, holding opponents to a meager .182 batting average against him. Opponents have only managed to score four runs off of Dull to date.
Dull was part of Midland's Texas League championship last season, appearing in five of the team's playoff games, earning a win in his four-plus innings of relief. Currently, Nashville sits in third place in the Pacific Coast League's American Southern division.
