CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three players recorded double-digit kills as the UNC Asheville volleyball team recorded its first victory of 2015 with a 3-1 win over Davidson on day two of the UNC Charlotte Invitational.
THE TURNING POINT
Asheville jumped out of the gates in the right direction, taking a 2-0 lead after the first two sets by identical 25-20 set scores. In the deciding fourth set, the Bulldogs got out to a 7-1 set advantage and used a run of five straight points to keep Davidson at a distance en route to the victory.
NOTABLES
-Christine Lakatos, Cat Fischer (11 each) and Madison Vaughn (10) finished in double-digit kills. It is the second consecutive match Lakatos has had double-digit kills.
-Vaughn added six blocks and three service aces as she contributed in all aspects.
-Setter Amanda Powers passed out a match-high 31 assists in the win, adding 12 digs to her statline.
-The Bulldogs are now 2-2 against Davidson, recording their first win against the Wildcats since a 3-0 victory at Davidson in September 1997.
