Dan Taylor Inducted to Frederick Community College Hall of Fame

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville assistant baseball coach Dan Taylor was inducted into the Frederick Community College Hall of Fame on Friday at an induction ceremony in Frederick, Maryland.
Taylor posted a .290 average with nine doubles, five homeruns and 30 RBI as a freshman at FCC. During his sophomore campaign, Taylor hit .385 with 15 doubles, nine homeruns and 43 RBI in 33 games.
“One of the best decisions I have ever made in my life was to attend Frederick Community College after high school,” stated Taylor. “From being a student-athlete, to coach and mentor, FCC has been an integral part of my life for the past 30 years. Truly, what makes FCC so special is the people and I am very appreciative to the faculty and staff for the guidance, friendship and significant impact on my life and career.”
After finishing his playing career at USC Upstate, Taylor returned to FCC in a coaching capacity from 1996-2002. During his tenure as coach, he led FCC to three World Series appearances (1998, 2001 and 2002) and was named Coach of the Year each of those seasons. Additionally, Taylor was named Louisville Slugger and Diamond Sports Regional Coach of the year in 1998, 2001 and 2002; College Coach of the Year in the Maryland State Association of Baseball Coaches in 1998, and was named 2002 Division II JUCO World Series Coach of the year.
Dan then served as Head Coach at Mars Hill College from 2003-2012. He became the winningest coach in program history with a total of 232 wins and the first coach in program history to be voted South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year. Taylor guided Mars Hill to the South Atlantic Conference championship game in 2006 and 2010.
Taylor continued his coaching career as head coach at Enka High School in Asheville from 2013-2014, and was named the Mountain Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
