ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team continues their long road trip when the Bulldogs travel down to the coast to take on UNC Wilmington starting tonight at 6 p.m. Friday's game also is a 6 p.m. start and Saturday's finale is slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch.

The Bulldogs (15-14, 3-6 BSC) enter the UNCW series coming off of a Big South Conference series win on the road at Gardner-Webb where they took two of three games in the series, and a midweek road victory at Tennessee Tech on Tuesday night. Asheville and first-year coach Scott Friedholm surpassed the program's 2014 season win total with Sunday's victory at Gardner-Webb. The Bulldogs were just 13-40 in 2014.

Looking ahead to UNCW, the Seahawks are 18-8 on the year and 16-4 at home. They enter the series with the Bulldogs coming off of a midweek loss to Tulane. In their last 10 games, they are 6-4, including a series sweep over Northeastern and a pair of victories over Towson in a conference series win last weekend.

“Coach Scalf and his staff have built a great team and program. This will be another challenge for our club. They will put pressure on our boys. I look forward to seeing how we respond to it,” Friedholm said.

Asheville is scheduled to start freshman left-hander Jordan Fulbright (4-0, 3.10 ERA) tonight, followed by Lucas Clarke (3-3, 3.76 ERA) on Saturday and Joe Zayatz (1-4, 4.33 ERA) on Sunday.

For UNCW, right-hander Nick Monroe (1-1, 6.82 ERA) and righty Ryan Foster (2-0, 3.63 ERA) will get the starting nods in games one and two, while the Seahawk coaches are not sure who will start Saturday's finale at this point.

Zayatz leads the Bulldogs in hitting with a .354 average, while Joe Teitjen is hitting .343 for the Blue & White. Hunter Bryant is getting the job done with power numbers. He leads Asheville with five homers and 22 RBIs.

The series between the two programs totals just three games with the Seahawks leading, 2-1. The last game played in the series came during the 2012 season as the two split a rain-shorted series.
