Men's Tennis Falls on the Road at Presbyterian College

CLINTON, S.C. – Daniel Kripak continued his stellar play with a pair of victories, but it was not enough as Presbyterian College was able to capture a 6-1 victory over the UNC Asheville men's tennis team on Wednesday afternoon at Templeton Tennis Courts.
Asheville falls to 10-6 overall and 2-4 in league play, while Presbyterian College improves to 16-7 on the year and 2-3 in the Big South.
Despite Kripak and Josh Swindler picking up an 8-4 victory over Diego Manzanas and Danny Bruce at the third flight, the Bulldogs dropped the doubles point against the Blue Hose. Kripak and Swindler are now 7-3 in doubles action this season.
Presbyterian College earned the doubles point through close victories at the top flight and No. 2. Brett Landau and Alex Croker were beaten by Alexander Lykou and Brandon Mills, 8-5, at No. 1. Thomas Panoulas and John Schubel were narrowly defeated, 8-7, by Ben Kelley and Joel Roberts on court two to complete the doubles round.
Kripak was the only member of the Blue & White to earn a singles victory, defeating Lykou in three-sets (5-7, 7-5, 10-6) for his 10th win of the year in singles play. Two other singles matches went the distance, as Panoulas fell 6-7, 6-2, 10-6 at No. 2 and Schubel was defeated 2-6, 7-6, 11-9 at the sixth flight.
The remaining three matches were won by Presbyterian College in straight-sets. Swindler fell 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 to Manzanas and Landau fell 6-3, 6-1 to Alejandro Bejar on court four. Alex Croker lost the remaining singles match, 6-1, 6-3 to Bruce on court five.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Saturday morning when they travel to Buies Creek to take on the Campbell Camels n a 10:00 a.m. contest.
