Men's Tennis Wins BSC Opener at Longwood, 4-2

FARMVILLE, Va. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team finally got a chance to open Big South Conference play on Saturday when the Bulldogs defeated homestanding Longwood, 4-2.

 

Asheville (8-1, 1-0 BSC) lost the doubles point but won four singles matches to earn the league win. Due to bad weather, the Bulldogs had three other league matches postponed before finally opening BSC play at Longwood.

 

The Blue & White lost the doubles point to trail 1-0. Asheville dominated singles play as it won all four matches in straight sets.

 

Thomas Panoulas won at #2 flight over Flourian Uffer, 6-3, 6-2. Josh Swindler defeated Alfonso Castellano at #3 flight, 7-5, 6-4.

 

Brett Landau won at #5 flight in quick fashion with a triumph over Lachian Master, 6-0, 6-1. John Schubel sealed the victory at #6 flight with a decisive victory over Bharani Sankarver, 6-1, 6-0.
