Women's Basketball Donates Proceeds from Pink Game
03.31.2015 | Women's Basketball
ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Head Women's Basketball Coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick visited the Mission Foundation last week to present them a portion of proceeds of their February 7th "Pink Game" against Winthrop. The UNC Asheville women's basketball game raised $670 for the Ladies Night Out Program.
Ladies Night Out is a joint program of Mission Hospital and Buncombe County Health & Human Services to ensure that every woman has access to a mammogram. The program covers the cost of a mammogram for women who are faced with a gap in coverage and who qualify for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP)
UNC Asheville raised funds by holding a silent auction throughout the game and a postgame fashion show, which included auctioning off the outfits worn by Coach Mock Kirkpatrick and Assistant Coach Josh Petersen. The Bulldogs also sold t-shirts to raise additional fund.
The UNC Asheville Pink Game won the NCAA Women's Basketball Creative Challenge for February. Because of the creativity and success of the day, UNC Asheville Women's Basketball will receive additional funds for their Women's Basketball marketing budget.
Past winners of the NCAA Women's Basketball Creative Challenge are Marquette, Baylor, Drake, and Iowa State.
