ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Tuesday night when the Bulldogs host Campbell at Kimmel Arena starting at 7 p.m.

Tuesday's game can be seen for free on the Big South Network at this link.

Asheville (7-17, 6-9 BSC) is coming off a frustrating 57-54 home loss to Winthrop on Saturday. The Bulldogs played great defense against the high-scoring Eagles but poor shooting doomed Asheville. The Blue & White had a tough time shooting the entire game as the Bulldogs connected on just 33 percent (21-of-64) of their field goal attempts, 21 percent (3-of-14) from beyond the arc and 47 percent (9-of-19) from the free throw line.

Campbell (14-9, 9-5 BSC) enter Tuesday's game with a three-game winning streak after downing Charleston Southern at home last week, 61-47.

“This game is huge for us in terms of conference standings, as is every game of course. We played a good game against Campbell down at their place with the exception of our transition defense in the second half and a scoring lull,” stated Bulldog coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick. “We are consistently getting good looks at the basket from both the floor and the free throw line. We need to convert those buckets down the stretch and especially tomorrow night against a scrappy Campbell team."

One of Ashville's toughest losses this year occurred last month at Campbell. The Bulldogs lost on Jan. 10, 60-55 in Buies Creek. Asheville led by 13 early in the second half and led late but a late Camel surge got the home team the victory.

CU has controlled the series over the years with a 34-7 advantage. The Camels are 7-0 against Asheville since Campbell rejoined the Big South in 2011. The Bulldogs last win in the series came in the 2010-11 campaign when Kendall Shepard knocked down a long three-pointer as the buzzer sounded, giving Asheville a 78-75 victory in Buies Creek. The Bulldogs have not had much luck against Campbell in Big South Conference contests. Campbell is 25-1 against Asheville when the game is either a Big South regular-season game or tournament contest. The Bulldogs lone win came in January, 1994 when Asheville won, 68-60 at Justice Center.

Shonese Jones leads the Bulldogs in scoring with a 10.8 average. KJ Weaver led Asheville in rebounding with a 6.5 mark and tops the club in blocked shots with 27. Senior guard Brittany Gwyn leads the Blue & White in assists (55) and steals (26).

The Bulldogs will have a week off after Tuesday night's game. Asheville plays next at High Point on Feb. 17 starting at 7 p.m.
