ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team easily defeated King University on Sunday, 7-0.
The Bulldogs (6-1) controlled the match from start to finish as they won their second straight match of the weekend.
Asheville earned the doubles point by getting wins at #1 and #2 flights. Thomas Panoulas and John Schubel won their match at #1 flight, 6-0. Daniel Kripak and Reid Dillon took their match at #2 flight with a hard-fought, 7-5 win.
King was shorthaneded today and forfeited matches at #5 and #6 flights. The Bulldogs took the top four flights. Daniel Kripak won at #1 flight in three sets as he won a tie-breaker in the third set, 10-8.
Thomas Panoulas won at #2 flight in straight sets, 6-1 6-2. Also winning in straight sets at #3 flight was Josh Swindler, 6-2, 6-1. Senior John Schubel took his match at #4 flight, 6-1, 6-1.
UNC Asheville is back in action next Sunday (Feb. 15) when it hosts Tennessee Tech at 3 p.m.
