Men's Tennis Earns 7-0 Win Over Lees McRae

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team got back to its winning ways with a 7-0 win over Lees McRae on Saturday afternoon at the C.D. Chesley Indoor Tennis courts.
Asheville (5-1) rebounded from its first loss of the season last Sunday at Appalachian State to blank the Bobcats (0-5).
The Bulldogs grabbed the lead with a pair of 6-3 wins on court one and court two. Alex Croker and Brett Landau defeated Joao Araujo and Garrett Lakey at the top flight, while Thomas Panoulas and John Schubel knocked off Carlos Pinel and Gabriel Muniz at No. 2.
The Blue & White swept singles play with straight-set victories across the board. Daniel Kripak topped Araujo, 6-2, 6-2 at the top flight. Panoulus earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 2, while Croker didn't surrender a point on court three to grab a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Schubel toppled Lackey 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 and Landau was victorious at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Hang Lak Choi. Reid Dillon rounded out the afternoon with a 7-5, 6-2 win on court six over Sebastian Zuhr.
The Bulldogs return home to face King University on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club.
