ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball returns to Kimmel Arena to host the Longwood Lancers in a 7:00 p.m. showdown on Thursday evening at the Sherrill Center.

Thursday's game will be video-streamed live and can be seen for free on the Big South Network.

Asheville (6-16, 5-8 BSC) downed Longwood in the first meeting this season 60-44 after recovering from a halftime deficit back on December 14 in Farmville, Va.  Tianna Knuckles led the Bulldogs with 14 points, while Paige Love added 13 points in the contest.

The Bulldogs shot nearly 50 percent in the second half to pull away back in December, while their defense held Longwood to just 30 percent shooting overall in the contest.

“Longwood is playing extremely well right now and shoot the ball just as good or better than any team in the league,” said head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick. “We are coming off a below average performance against CSU on Monday and need to make some adjustments to be prepared for Thursday night. Our team needs to play with emotion but not emotional in order to achieve consistency. We deviated from that on Monday night and are looking to get back on track against Longwood.”

Asheville is looking to bounce back following a tough, 70-57 road loss on Monday night against Charleston Southern. The Bulldogs have a 3-3 record in their last six contests and have won two of the last three games in the series against the Lancers, including a 69-52 victory the last time the teams squared off inside Kimmel Arena.

In Big South Conference play, the Bulldogs hold a 3-3 mark playing at home inside Kimmel Arena, while Longwood is winless on the road so far this season (0-12 overall, 0-5 BSC).

Shonese Jones leads the Bulldogs in scoring with 10.7 points per game this season and a 10.7 average in conference games. Sophomore KJ Weaver averages 6.0 rebounds per contest to lead the Blue & White in rebounding.

Raven Williams paces Longwood in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game this season, while Kyndal Skersick also averages double-figure scoring with an 11.0 average. Khalilah Ali averages 5.6 rebounds per contest to lead the Lancers on the boards.
