CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Asheville Women's Basketball team goes on the road Monday looking to pick up their tenth straight win this season at noon against the Clemson Tigers. A tenth-straight victory would be the most in program history for the Bulldogs.
NOTABLES
Big South vs ACC: Asheville's game with Clemson is only the second ACC matchup the Bulldogs have encountered under Coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick. The last time the Bulldogs faced an ACC program was during the 2012-13 campaign when they traveled to UNC Chapel Hill and Asheville fell to the Tar Heels on the road.
Off the Glass: In Friday's win over Furman, Asheville pulled down 47 total rebounds. Bre Fitzgerald led the team in boards with 10, closely followed by Chatori Major and K.J. Weaver each with six. So far this season, Asheville is averaging 42.9 rebounds per game.
Making History: Adding Monday's game to Asheville's win column would improve the Bulldogs to a 10-1 start on the season. This would top the program's best start in history of 9-1 by the 1985-86 campaign when the school competed at the NAIA level, giving Coach Mock and her team the best start in school history.
QUOTEABLES FROM HEAD COACH BRENDA KIRKPATRICK
On the match-up- "We are excited about our last non-conference competition at Clemson and need an opportunity before the break to improve upon some things that were exposed in our last outing against Furman. Obviously after Monday's game we will be heading into conference play and we want to be prepared. Clemson is a dynamic team that is improving with every game, which has actually been one of our own goals this season."
UP NEXT
-Following Monday afternoon's game, the Bulldogs will have a short break from competition, picking back up with Big South Conference play on Tuesday, December 29 with a home game against Winthrop. That game will be part of a double header featuring the women's game, followed by the men at 7:00 p.m. taking on Furman.
