Tianna Knuckles Named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –UNC Asheville guard Tianna Knuckles has been named the Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the conference announced this afternoon. Knuckles was also named College Sports Madness' Big South Player of the Week earlier in the day on Monday.

 

The junior leads the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game through the first eight contests, and shooting the ball at 46 percent from the floor. The Wendell, N.C. native is one of the top three-point threats in the Big South, and is 28-of-62 (45 percent) from long range this season. Through Sunday's games, Knuckles has made the most three-pointers in the Big South to date.

 

Knuckles finished with 15 points in Asheville's home win against UNC Greensboro on Thursday night, with all of her points coming from behind the arc. She finished the night shooting 55 percent from the field, adding six rebounds and two steals in 20 minutes of action.

 

The Bulldogs and Knuckles tipoff against Coastal Carolina on the road tonight at 7:00 p.m. trying to extend their seven-game winning streak, the program's longest in the NCAA Era.
