Road Win in Big South Opener Gives Bulldogs Fifth Straight Win

CLINTON, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team opened its Big South Conference schedule with a win for the third consecutive season as the Bulldogs pushed their winning streak to five straight games with a 72-63 road victory over Presbyterian.
THE TURNING POINT
Up eight points entering the fourth quarter, Presbyterian hit the opening shot of the final stanza before the Bulldogs shut the door from there, extending the lead over the final nine minutes to a double-digit lead in the final four minutes.
NOTABLES
-Tianna Knuckles continued her hot start to the season as she led all scorers with 19 points and added five rebounds and a steal in the win.
-Chatori Major and Ja'Da Brayboy also finished in double-figures, with Major notching 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while Brayboy tallied 11 points, four rebounds and two assists of her own.
-Major's seven rebounds was an Asheville-high in that category, but the Bulldogs saw nine different players pull down at least one rebound off the glass.
-Consistent throughout the night, the Bulldogs finished the game shooting 46.9 percent (23-of-49) after collecting half shooting percentages of 46 percent (1st Half) and 48 percent (2nd Half).
-Asheville has now opened the Big South Conference schedule with a victory for the third consecutive season after beginning conference play with wins over Charleston Southern the past two seasons prior to tonight's victory.
UP NEXT
-Following tonight's win, the Bulldogs return home to host Warren Wilson on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the Asheville men's team. Saturday's doubleheader will also be Star Wars Day with special themed events going on throughout both games.
