ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team looks to defend its three-game winning streak and home court on Friday afternoon when the Bulldogs welcome USC Upstate to town for some post-Thanksgiving basketball.

 

Friday's game is a 'Take A Kid to the Game' date with children's tickets free with a paying adult.

 

NOTABLES

Bulldogs are getting it done: Asheville is averaging 73.5 points per game so far this season and is outscoring their opponents by nearly 20 points (73.5-55.8). The Bulldogs have been led by junior guard Tianna Knuckles, who is averaging 16.5 points per game for Asheville. Fellow guard Chatori Major is also scoring well and is averaging 10.0 points per contest.

 

Opening the year well: Following a tight, 74-68 loss to open the season at East Tennessee State, the Bulldogs have rolled off three consecutive victories for the first time under fourth-year head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick. Previously, Asheville has had four different two-game winning streaks over the last three-plus seasons.

 

Nice to see you: Asheville meets USC Upstate for the 12th time in school history Friday afternoon and the Bulldogs hold a 6-5 advantage in the all-time series. Upstate defeated Asheville 67-60 on Dec. 21, 2014 last season.

-Following today's game, the Bulldogs have a quick turnaround as they get set to open Big South Conference play on Monday at Presbyterian. Following Monday's game, Asheville is back home for the next two contests (Dec. 5 and Dec. 10).
