CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team pushed its winning streak out to three games on Tuesday afternoon as the Bulldogs held Western Carolina to just 28 percent shooting on the way to a 67-45 road victory.
THE TURNING POINT
The Bulldogs delivered in the paint, with half of their point total (34) coming from inside as Asheville finished the game shooting 40 percent as a team from the floor and forced Western Carolina into 20 turnovers.
NOTABLES
-Junior K.J. Weaver led Asheville with the game's only double-double, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tianna Knuckles' 15 points led all scorers (6-for-15 shooting). Paige Love (13 points, 6 rebounds) and Ja'Da Brayboy (11 points, 7 rebounds) also finished as double digit scorers.
-The Bulldogs turned Western's 20 turnovers into 17 points while they also tallied eight points on the fast break.
-After Western led by as many as eight points in the opening minutes, the Bulldogs used a Knuckles jump shot to take a 15-14 lead with 3:25 remaining in the first quarter and never gave up the lead for the remainder of the night.
-Today's victory was Asheville's first in the regional rivalry since a Dec. 2, 2008 home win inside the Justice Center.

-Following tonight's win, Asheville returns home to Kimmel Arena for a Friday afternoon matinee as they host USC Upstate at 3:00 p.m. Friday's game will be a 'Take A Kid to the Game' date with children's tickets free with a paying adult.
