ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team looks to improve on its current two-game winning streak when it makes the short trek over to take on Western Carolina at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.

 

NOTABLES

Bulldogs Look to Stay Hot: Asheville has outscored its opponents by 55 points during the current winning streak. On the season, the Bulldogs are averaging 75.2 points per game over the first three games while defensively holding opponents to just 59.1 points per game.

 

Tianna Knuckles Named College Sports Madness Big South Player of the Week: Junior guard Tianna Knuckles has been named College Sports Madness' Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the publication announced Monday. It is the first award for the Bulldog program this season. Knuckles finished the week with a pair of double-digit scoring performances, including a 24-point, 10 rebound effort at Wofford. She finished last week's two games with a 15-for-32 combined shooting effort (9-for-19 from three-point range) while adding 11 rebounds, three steals, three blocks, and an assist in playing a combined 53 minutes over the two games.

 

Tall Task against Western: The last Bulldog win in the series came on Dec. 2, 2008 inside the Justice Center, a 90-71 Asheville victory. Western leads the all-time series 39-11 and is 20-6 over the Bulldogs in games played in Cullowhee.

-Following Tuesday night's game, Asheville returns home to Kimmel Arena for a Friday afternoon matinee as they host USC Upstate at 3:00 p.m. Friday's game will be a 'Take A Kid to the Game' date with children's tickets free with a paying adult.
