RESULTS

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The UNC Asheville women's swimming team earned a hard-fought 143-118 road victory over Brenau Friday evening.

NOTES

- Freshman Morgan Rulevich set a new program record in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:08.40. With her first place finish in the 200 IM Friday, Rulevich has four event wins in three dual meets this season. Sophomore Ale Sanchez finished third and freshman Sydney Vandenburg was fourth in the 200 IM against Brenau.

- Sophomore Ale Sanchez continued her winning ways Friday as she finished strong to win the 1000 yard freestyle by a half a second (10:45.94). Through three dual meets this season, Sanchez has claimed five event wins.

- The 50 yard breaststroke proved to be a crucial point swing as the Bulldogs took home three of the top four spots. Senior Alessandra Troncoso finished first (31.21) followed by sophomores Shannon Kennedy (33.69) and Carly Emerson (33.89) in third and fourth place, respectively.

- Asheville used the 50 yard freestyle to further distance itself from Brenau. Behind freshman Jessica Woolfe's first-place finish (25.27), the Bulldogs also picked up points from junior Alexandra van Dorsten (25.45) finishing second and freshman Anna Catharine Nazemi (27.02) finishing fifth.

- Asheville's relay team of Woolfe (25.32), Reid Jackson (25.25), van Dorsten (24.44) and Rulevich (23.94) won the 200 yard freestyle with a combined time of 1:38.95.

QUOTE

“I'm proud of how the team raced today in our win over Brenau. The squad swam a lot of season-best times, which is not expected for this time of year and Stephanie Smith earned a lifetime best in the 500 free. We fought hard and came away with the win against a solid opponent.” – head coach Elizabeth Lykins

UP NEXT

- Asheville is back in the Justice Center Pool Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. ET for a dual meet against North Florida.
