ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team tips off its 2015-16 season at East Tennessee State Friday, Nov. 13. As an opportunity to “Meet the Bulldogs,” one student-athlete will be highlighted each day leading up to the start of the season. Today's featured Bulldog women's basketball player is sophomore Khaila Webb.

Webb appeared in 25 games last season as a freshman, averaging 3.6 points per game. She set a career-high with 16 points to go along with five rebounds in a win over Coastal Carolina (March 5).

UNCABulldogs.com recently sat down with Webb.

What is your major? “Right now I'm planning on majoring in political science. I want to go to law school, possibly to become a family attorney.”

What is your favorite part about UNC Asheville? “I feel like it's not so judgmental. I can go to class in anything I want to and not have to worry about it being a fashion show. That's really my favorite part.”

How long have you been playing basketball? “That's a good question. Probably like four (years old) maybe. I was young, I don't know exactly the year.”

Why did you choose UNC Asheville? “I picked this school because of the small class sizes and the teacher to student ratio. You can have an individual personal relationship with your professors and really the team. I came up here on my official visit and they made me feel like I was already a part of the team and that's something that really got me.”

Do you have any nicknames? “Webb Gang you already know, Ky Ky, Ky, Webb, K Webb.”

If you had a hashtag for your life, what would you want it to be? “Hashtag Webb Gang, all day.”

What is your favorite saying from Coach Mock? “Get to two feet, that's what she tells me all the time.”

Get to two feet in relation to what? “Scoring. Get to two feet, collect yourself and then go up.”

All-time starting five, who would you want on your team? “Steph Curry because he's putting in work right now. LeBron, you have to have LeBron, I don't know what Tyler (Smith) was thinking. Swaggy P (Nick Young), Alyssa Thomas because that's my girl. I would say Kobe but Kobe's not going to pass the ball to everybody and I need the ball to get spread around, let's say Allen Iverson.”

What are three words you'd use to describe yourself? “Chill, open and funny. I feel like I'm a funny girl.”

Do you have any jokes up your sleeve? “No I don't have one right now. Maybe I can get you one, one day.”

What are three things you can't live without? “My phone, my mom, and I guess food, you have to eat.”

Are there any songs you know all the words to? “Any Lauryn Hill song. And 'When Did You Stop Loving Me' by Hunter Hayes. That's my jam. It's a little depressing but I know the words to it, sadly.”

If you could max out your credit card at one store, what store would it be? “Forever 21.”

Do you have a favorite class you've taken here? “Race and ethnic relations. That's my favorite class I've taken my whole entire life. I love this class more than I love a lot of things and that's really scary to say that you love a class more than you love a lot of things, but I do.”

When I'm not on the basketball court, I am… “Doing homework. Grinding off the court.”

What are you most looking forward to this season? “Just to see us grow as a team. The wins are nice but I'd like to see us grow on the court, off the court, things like that, and have a fun atmosphere to be around.”

When's the last time you took a selfie? “I take selfies all day on other people's phones, on my personal phone. I don't know, I would say last week maybe.”
