ASHEVILLE, N.C. – As the UNC Asheville women's basketball team prepares to open its 40th season of play when the 2015-16 season tips off Nov. 13, the Big South Conference has released its television schedule for the upcoming year.
Big South Release
Every Bulldog home game will be streamed live online for free on the Big South Network and each road game in conference will be available on BSN as well. Additionally, Asheville will be featured on ESPN3's exclusive “Game of the Week” coverage on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, when the Bulldogs play host to Campbell at 2 p.m. ET.
In total, 25 of Asheville's 29 regular-season games will be available online.
In addition, a pair of Bulldog home games will also be carried locally on MY40 (WMYA). As part of a men's and women's basketball doubleheader, the Bulldogs' Jan. 16 matchup against Gardner-Webb will be broadcasted locally as well as the Feb. 6 game against Coastal Carolina.
For the fourth consecutive year, ESPN3 is the exclusive home of the Big South Women's Basketball Championship, as coverage of the Quarterfinal round on March 11 begins a seven-game in three-day package to determine its automatic bid recipient to the NCAA Tournament. The Semifinals will be carried on Saturday, March 12, while the Finals will air live on Sunday, March 13 with time still to be determined.
The Bulldogs begin their 2015-16 schedule with a two-game road swing beginning at East Tennessee State Nov. 13. Asheville will open up play at Kimmel Arena Friday, Nov. 20, taking on Montreat College at 7 p.m. ET.
Head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick enters her fourth season at the helm of the Bulldogs and returns nine players including three starters from a team that finished 9-22 (7-13 Big South) a season ago. Asheville will look to blend its returning talent and experience gained from last year with five newcomers. The Bulldogs are on the verge of breaking through, as just a season ago the team dropped 10 games by a single-digit margin including six losses coming by just three points or less.
Asheville has enjoyed terrific fan support inside Kimmel Arena, ranking third in the Big South in average home attendance for the 2014-15 season.
