ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Visiting Liberty rode a first half goal to a Friday night victory over the UNC Asheville women's soccer team, pushing the Bulldogs to a .500 record in Big South Conference play.
THE TURNING POINT
Liberty's Jennifer Knoebel won a battle for the ball just outside the box and sent her shot past Asheville goalkeeper Lily Brown in the 31st minute for the only goal of the night.
NOTABLES
-Caroline Houser and Paige Trent each finished with three shots for Asheville in the loss.
-Bulldog goalkeeper Lily Brown recorded nine saves in the loss.
-After being outshot 8-2 in the opening half, Asheville outshot Liberty in the second 45 minutes and took control of the match despite not being able to score the equalizer.
