ASHEVILLE, N.C. – A total of 15 home games and a Big South Conference schedule that includes multiple home games down the stretch highlights the 2015-16 UNC Asheville women's basketball schedule announced today by fourth-year coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick.

Asheville opens the season with a pair of road contests, beginning at East Tennessee State on Nov. 13 before visiting Wofford College on Nov. 17. The Bulldogs will open play inside Kimmel Arena on Nov. 20 when they host local foe Montreat.

The Bulldogs follow up Montreat with another regional foe, at Western Carolina (Nov. 24), before hosting USC Upstate on Nov. 27. Big South Conference play begins in November as Asheville will open at Presbyterian (Nov. 30) before jumping back to non-conference opponents.

Local foe Warren Wilson (Dec. 5) and UNC Greensboro (Dec. 10) come to town as part of a two-game homestand before the Bulldogs trek to Coastal Carolina on Dec. 14.  A home contest against Furman on Dec. 18 with a special 11:30 a.m. start for Education Day and a trip to face Clemson (Dec. 21) round out non-conference play.

“We are certainly excited about our schedule for the upcoming season. Any time we can talk about playing games this time of year it makes me happy. Our non-conference is full of Southern Conference opponents as well as a trip to Clemson right before the winter break. It will be challenging to open the season with two straight road games but with a core group of returners it's an early test that we need to prepare us for Big South play,” Kirkpatrick stated.

“Our conference slate will be challenging as usual playing each of the Big South members both home and away which we enjoy. Right now we are focused on having a growth mindset heading into the season.”

Big South Conference play begins with a home matchup against Winthrop (Dec. 29) before the Bulldogs hit the road for three straight games, facing Campbell (Jan. 2), Liberty (Jan. 4) and Charleston Southern (Jan. 9). Asheville returns home for two games, against Longwood (Jan. 12) and Gardner-Webb (Jan. 16), before traveling to face High Point on Jan. 23.

The middle of the conference schedule features a mix of home and road matchups, beginning with a home contest against Presbyterian (Jan. 26) before road games at Radford (Jan. 30) and Winthrop (Feb. 1). The Bulldogs then have their final regular season conference matchup with Coastal Carolina at home on Feb. 6 before playing at Longwood on Feb. 9.

The Bulldogs finish the season with five of their final six matchups inside Kimmel Arena. They host Liberty (Feb. 13) and Radford (Feb. 16) before detouring to Gardner-Webb on Feb. 23. Matchups against Campbell (Feb. 27), Charleston Southern (March 1) and High Point (March 5) close out the regular season. The Big South Championship will be held March 10-13 at a location to be announced in the coming weeks.
