Women's Swiming Wins at Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's swim team won its second meet of the season as the Bulldogs easily downed homestanding Lenoir-Rhyne, 214-44 Friday afternoon.
Friday's event was a tri-meet with Asheville, Lenoir-Rhyne and Queens. The Bulldogs did not compete against Queens, only Lenoir-Rhyne.
Asheville (2-4) won four events on the day. Ashley Ireland won the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.01. Allie Snyder won a close race in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:18.87.
Junior Alessandra Troncoso captured the 100 breaststroke as she posted a mark of 1:10.22. Alexandra van Dorsten won the 100 freestyle with a time of 55.98
"The team is excited to be back on campus for the remainder of winter training before classes resume next week,” said Asheville coach Elizabeth Lykins. “We are preparing for conference championships daily and today's racing was part of that process."
The Bulldogs compete again next Saturday (Jan. 10) in Greensboro when Asheville battles North Carolina A&T and North Florida.
