ASHEVILLE, N.C. - A balanced offensive attack led the UNC Asheville women's basketball team past Coastal Carolina, 68-61 in Big South Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Kimmel Arena.

Paige Love's all-around game sparked Asheville, as she finished with eight points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals. Shonese Jones led the Bulldogs with 13 points, while Khaila Webb joined Love with eight points. The Bulldogs received scoring contributions from 11 players, as their bench tallied 33 total points to Coastal Carolina's four total bench points.

The Asheville win snaps a five-game losing streak in the series against the Chanticleers, while it also ended a three-game winning streak that Coastal Carolina had brought into Kimmel.

The Bulldogs (5-14, 4-6 BSC) led from nearly wire-to-wire on Saturday as they grabbed their second win in three games, despite seeing Coastal Carolina (10-7, 5-5 BSC) outshoot them by nearly 10 percent overall from the floor and 20 percent better from three-point range.

Overall, Coastal Carolina shot 48 percent (25-of-52) from the floor and 42 percent (5-of-12) from three-point range, while Asheville finished the game shooting 39 percent (25-of-65) from the floor and 21 percent (4-of-19) from three-point range.

The Bulldogs finished the afternoon shooting 64 percent from the free throw line, as they got to the charity stripe 22 total times (14-22) compaired to the Chanticleers' 12 attempts (6-12).

After seeing Coastal Carolina knock down the opening basket of the game, the Bulldogs responded with a three-point bucket from Jones and never trailed again in the contest.

Jones finished with a team-high 13 points for Asheville, while Page Love filled her stat sheet with an eight-point, 10 rebound effort.

Coastal Carolina was led by Jas Adams' 18 points, as A.J. Jordan and Ced Gibson also finished in double figures, notching 14 points and 13 points, respectively.

Following Jones' three-pointer in the opening moments, the Bulldogs stretched their first half lead to as many as nine before taking a five-point, 31-26 advantage into the half. Asheville continued to hold the lead throughout the second half despite several scoring runs by the Chanticleers that cut into the lead.

Anna Vogt's jumper with 1:52 left to go in the game pulled Coastal Carolina within one point, but the Bulldog defense stood tall as they closed the afternoon out on a 7-0 run highlighted by a pair of tough baskets inside from K.J. Weaver.

The Bulldogs finished with a 38-20 scoring advantage in the paint and forced Coastal Carolina into 19 turnovers, turning those into 25 points. Asheville also ended the afternoon with a 10-point scoring advantage (14-4) off of second-chance points and had an 8-0 fast break scoring advantage.
