Former UNC Asheville Head Baseball Coach Mike Roberts Named to ABCA Hall of Fame

HIGH POINT. N.C. – Former UNC Asheville baseball coach Mike Roberts has been selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Roberts is one of five inductees that was announced by the ABCA earlier this week.
Roberts coached at UNC Asheville for one year in 2000 after a long and successful career at UNC Chapel Hill. He led the Bulldogs to a 26-32 season in 2000 with memorable wins over Georgia, Tennessee and Gonzaga. At the time, the 26 wins was the second most in school history. He won his 800th career game at Asheville with a win over Lander.
Roberts coached at UNC from 1978-98, leading the team to a 780-428-3 (.645) record. In addition to the postseason accolades, the Tar Heels won five ACC regular season titles and four ACC tournament championships. He finished his coaching career with an 806-460-3 overall record.
The longtime Cape Cod Baseball League coach recently finished his 11th season as leader of the Cotuit Kettleers and led the team to the 2013 CCBL championship.
Roberts left UNC Asheville in the summer of 2000 to take the Athletic Director's position at Florida Southern.
