Men's Tennis Enjoys Strong Doubles Play at Elon

ELON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team posted some solid results this past weekend in doubles play against strong competition at the Elon Fall Tennis Classic that was held at the Jimmy Powell Center.
The Bulldogs had two doubles team reach the finals of their flights, while two others earned third-place finishes during the weekend tourney.
In the A2 doubles draw, John Schubel and Thomas Panoulas posted wins over teams from Elon (8-6) and East Carolina (8-3) to reach Sunday's finals before they lost to a team from James Madison, 8-3.
In the C1 doubles draw, Will Goldberg and Reid Dillon earned wins over duos from Georgia State (8-3) and North Carolina Central (8-2). They fell to a team from Old Dominion in the finals, 8-2.
Daniel Kripak and Josh Swindler won an opening-round match against a team from N.C. Central (8-5) before losing a close match to Elon, 8-7 (6) in the B2 doubles draw. The duo bounced back to defeat Georgia State, 8-5 to claim third place.
Brett Landau and Alex Croker downed UNC Greensboro, 8-4 before falling in the semifinals against Elon, 8-6. Landau and Croker handily won the third-place match over James Madison, 8-2.
The Bulldogs are off for a month before finishing the fall season at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. (Oct. 31-Nov. 2).
