Georgia Downs Bulldogs in Volleyball

ATHENS, Ga. – The UNC Asheville women's volleyball team dropped its weekend opener to the University of Georgia in straight sets on Friday night at the Ramsey Center.
Asheville falls to 2-6 on the year, while Georgia improves to 5-2. The match was the first of three at the Benson Hospitality Invitational.
Junior Catherine Fischer led the way for the Blue & White with seven kills, while sophomore Madison Vaughn finished the match with six. Junior Bryn Pfieffer tallied a team-high nine digs defensively, while four different Bulldogs each posted two blocks.
Georgia was led by Lauren Teknipp, who registered a match-high 14 kills. Tirah Le'au added 10 kills, while setter Kaylee Kehoe dished out 44 assists in directing the UGA attack.
The first set saw Georgia earn a 25-18 decision, after the Asheville held an early 6-5 lead in the set.
UGA controlled the second set, winning 25-12, before wrapping up the match with a 25-20 third set victory.
Asheville will take on N.C. State at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, before squaring off with Harvard at 4:00 p.m.
