WCU Rallies Past Bulldogs, 66-62

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – James Sinclair scored 20 points to rally Western Carolina to a 66-62 victory over UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon at Kimmel Arena.
The Bulldogs (4-7) led by 16 early in the second half to see the Catamounts (4-8) hold Asheville to two field goals in the final seven minutes to earn the win.
Andrew Rowsey led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Jaleel Roberts added a season-best 12 points and eight blocked shots. David Robertson finished with 11 points.
Mike Brown added 12 points, while Torrion Brummitt chipped in 11 points and five rebounds.
The Catamounts took the lead for good when Brown knocked down a long trey at the 2:25 mark for a 61-60 WCU lead.
Sinclair sealed the game by going 4-of-4 from the free throw line in the final minutes of play.
Early hot shooting by Rowsey and Robertson put the Bulldogs in front 26-12 midway through the first half. The duo combined for treys in the first 10 minutes of the contest.
WCU rallied to cut the lead to 34-28 at halftime.
The Bulldogs pushed the lead to 55-39 at the 12:29 mark of the second half on an Ahmad Thomas three-point play.
But the Catamounts would allow the home team to score just seven points the rest of the game.
The Cats forced 16 Asheville turnovers that led to a 22-5 advantage on points off turnovers.
UNC Asheville plays next on Dec. 31 when the Bulldogs open Big South Conference play at Radford starting at 4 p.m,
