FARMVILLE, Va. – Tianna Knuckles scored 14 points to lead UNC Asheville to a 60-44 Big South Conference win over Longwood Sunday afternoon at Willet Hall.
The win pushed the Bulldogs record to 3-6 overall and 2-0 in Big South Conference play. Asheville is 2-0 in league action for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
Paige Love added 13 points for the Blue & White. She went 6-of-6 from the free throw line and knocked down a three-pointer.
“Our offense came alive in the second half as Tianna Knuckles did a job extending the defense with her three-point shooting,” stated Kirkpatrick. “I thought our defense was just tremendous in the second half and helped get us going.”
Knuckles was 5-of-6 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs out-rebounded Longwood, 45-32.
Asheville trailed 25-23 at halftime but dominated the second half to picking up its third straight win over the Lancers (0-8, 0-2 BSC). The Bulldogs outscored Longwood, 37-19 in the second half.
