RADFORD, Va. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team closed out its season with a 3-0 loss at Big South Regular-Season Champion Radford, Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center.

Asheville closes the season with an 8-22 overall record and a 4-10 mark in league play.  The Highlanders wrap up the regular-season with a 22-7 overall record and a 12-2 record in the Big South and will be the No. 1 seed in next week's Conference Championships in Conway, S.C.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 9-6 lead in the first set on the strength of a pair of 3-0 runs.  Christine Lakatos tallied a kill in each run and ended with five kills in the opening set.  Radford grabbed their first lead of the set at 15-13 following four straight points, but Asheville answered back to take a 22-20 following five straight points which was sparked by a two kills each by Lakatos and Catherine Fischer.  It wouldn't be enough for the Bulldogs, as Radford rallied to score seven of the last ten points to earn a 27-25 first-set win.

After going back-and-forth early in the second set, Radford grabbed an 11-8 lead and never looked back on its way to a 25-20 win.  Fischer led the attack for the Bulldogs in the set with three kills.  Madison Vaughn tallied all three of her blocks in the match during the set.

Two early 3-0 runs allowed Asheville to grab a 16-12 third set lead capped by an ace from Fischer.  Shelby Erickson added three kills in the set, but it would not be enough to hold off Radford who rallied to win the set 25-23 and close out the match.

Lakatos led the Bulldogs with 10 kills for the match, while Radford's Emma Deininger led all players with 14 kills for the match.  Katie Davis handed out 29 assists, while Erickson and Bryn Pfieffer each recorded 10 digs.  Defensively, Madison Vaughn and Katie Creger each tallied three blocks.
