Bulldog Swimming Falls to Marshall & Gardner-Webb

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's swimming team fell to Gardner-Webb and Marshall on Saturday in a tri-meet at Justice Center Pool.
The Bulldogs (1-2) fell to Gardner-Webb, 190-70 and lost to Marshall, 187-75. Gardner-Webb won the meet by also defeating the Thundering Herd, 152-110.
Asheville had some highlights during the tri-meet. The Bulldogs opened the day by winning the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Emily Werth, Alessandra Troncoso, Alexander Van Dorsten and Ashley Ireland captured the event with a time of 1:51.33.
Troncoso took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.79. Ireland finished a strong weekend with a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle as she posted a mark of 24.98.
“We faced two very good teams today and hopefully learned a lot that will make us a better team as the year goes on,” commented Asheville coach Elizabeth Lykins.
UNC Asheville is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 8 when the Bulldogs travel to Georgia Southern.
