BOONE, N.C.  – Stanley Broaden scored twice to lead Appalachian State to a 5-0 victory over visiting UNC Asheville Friday night at ASU Soccer Stadium.

 

The Mountaineers (1-0-2) controlled the game from start to finish as they out-shot the Bulldogs (1-2-0) 19-2.

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Dan Jackson made eight saves for the Bulldogs. ASU scored twice in the first half to take a 2-0 halftime lead.

 

Broaden tallied a goal early in the second half to push the lead to 3-0. The Mountaineers sealed the victory with two goals in the final three minutes.

 

UNC Asheville is back in action this Tuesday evening when the Bulldogs play at USC Upstate starting at 7 p.m. Asheville finishes up the road swing with a first-ever meeting with North Florida on Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.
