Women's Track & Field Team Wears Yellow to Support Boston Victims

04.16.2013 | Track and Field

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Women's Track and Field team dressed in yellow in honor of those who were killed or injured at yesterday's Boston Marathon bombings today at practice.

Even while preparing for the Big South Conference championship meet this weekend, the student-athletes wanted to show their solidarity with the larger running community.

Ashlei Clodfelter, Emma Bussard, Rachel Carson, Melanie Kulesz, Kelsie Rubino, Alyska Kalmeijer and Clair Powell are just a few of the student-athletes to show their support.

Former Bulldog assistant track coach and recent medical school graduate Danielle Deines, completed the Boston Marathon on Monday only to find herself serving in triage after the explosions.  The current student-athletes didn't have Deines as a coach but felt a need to show their camaraderie with the runners and families affected by this tragedy.
